Book Synopsis
The city sleeps. Selene DiSilva walks her dog along the banks of the Hudson. She is alone, just the way she likes it. She doesn’t believe in friends and she doesn’t speak to her family. Mos of them are simply too dangerous.
In the predawn calm. Selene finds the body of a young woman washed ashore, gruesomely mutilated and wreathed in laurel. Her ancient rage returns. And so does the memory of a promise she made a long ago, when her name was Artemis.
My thoughts
The first thing that attracted me to this book was the title and secondly, that cover! I loved this book it was such a great mystery read with a very enticing plot.
We follow Selene, the Goddess Artemis and Theo a professor at an University. Selena, works helping woman get out of abusive relationships, one day while walking her dog she finds a mutilated body of a young woman. When Selene notices what was done to the girl she vows to find out who the murderer is. Theo a closed friend of the victim decides he will help Selene in solving this murder.
I can’t say enough things about this story, the characters were great, the witty banter between the two was perfect. The plot very enticing and full of surprises. One flaw I found (and this is just me because I’m a big fan) was the way Hades and Persephone were portrayed in the story, the story played Persephone as a whinny female character that I had to closed the book for a bit (I know, it’s me) but other than that this story was executed perfectly.
Overall, I loved this book will definitely recommend it to anyone and I can’t wait to pick up the second book in the story, I believe this is a trilogy.
