Book synopsis

ONE SEEKS FREEDOM.

THE OTHER REVOLUTION.

As Red becomes increasingly embroiled in palace politics, he learns that even life among the nobility can be deadly.

While terrorizing imperial ships as the pirate Dire Bane, Hope stumbles onto a plot of such horrifying scope that it makes the massacre of her childhood village seem small in comparison.

TOGETHER THEY WILL IGNITE A REVOLUTION.

My thoughts

It is no secret that I LOVE THIS SERIES! Like I can’t get enough of it. I love the first book  Hope and Red and I didn’t think I was going to love this one as much being that second books usually lack something but not Bane and Shadow, no, this was perfect from beginning to end.  I love seeing everyone back and I was not disappointed at all.

Before I beginning expressing my feeling for this book I have to say if you haven’t read Hope and Red yet then go read it then comeback because this is a second book and will have some spoilers for the first book.  Now, let me gush about it.

Bane and Shadow picks up about a year after the events of Hope and Red, Book 1. The story alternates between the main characters.  Hope is now Bane Dire, she’s on the missing on getting Red back with the help of the old crew.  Hope is going around destroying the biomancers ships and interfering with their sick science experiments.  I love seeing the crew back working on rescuing Red.  I have to say not all in the story was great there was a very sad moment for the gang and I have to say I was sad too but I won’t go into too much detail not to spoil it for you guys. But Hope is really struggling with her inner demons and is questioning her loyalty and her character as a person.

Red is now a closed friend to the prince and it’s getting involved in the politics and being trained by the biomancers, things he’s planning to used against them for gain his freedom but things are not what they seem for him.

There is a new character by the name Lady Miravel Himpist which I loved not right of way of course but she grew on me and by the end I thought she was a great addition to Red story-line.

I have to say this was a great read and I loved how we get to see the side characters make their own way and we see a lot character growth in this book.

Overall this was fantastic follow up book and I can’t wait to see what’s next for all of them.

five-star-rating yellow
