Goodreads synopsis

“The one guy Bailey Rydell can’t stand is actually the boy of her dreams—she just doesn’t know it yet”.

Classic movie fan Bailey “Mink” Rydell has spent months crushing on a witty film geek she only knows online as Alex. Two coasts separate the teens until Bailey moves in with her dad, who lives in the same California surfing town as her online crush.

Faced with doubts (what if he’s a creep in real life—or worse?), Bailey doesn’t tell Alex she’s moved to his hometown. Or that she’s landed a job at the local tourist-trap museum. Or that she’s being heckled daily by the irritatingly hot museum security guard, Porter Roth—a.k.a. her new archnemesis. But life is a whole lot messier than the movies, especially when Bailey discovers that tricky fine line between hate, love, and whatever it is she’s starting to feel for Porter.

And as the summer months go by, Bailey must choose whether to cling to a dreamy online fantasy in Alex or take a risk on an imperfect reality with Porter. The choice is both simpler and more complicated than she realizes, because Porter Roth is hiding a secret of his own: Porter is Alex…Approximately.

My thoughts

Ok, so this is going to sound more like a rant than a review so I’ll keep it short, this is an unpopular opinion since after reading this book I check out a few from goodreads and the rating is pretty high lol..  I didn’t hate this book but I didn’t love it either.

The story follows  Bailey Rydell, she has an online friendship with Alex from the west cost, he decides to invite to visit California and since her father lives (wait for it) in California in the same town as Alex she decides to move to west coast and try to find Alex without telling him.  Well, can you already see where this is going???

Once she gets there she gets a job at a museum where she meets Porter, an annoying, rude hot looking surfer.  Eventually they learned to work together and without giving much away they become a bit more than friends.

Ok, since I want to keep this spoiler free I just say I figured out who Porter was and how the story was going to end when I was like 40 pages in, like seriously so easy to figured out.  I still finished the book since I kind of like the way each chapter began with a movie quote, and yep that’s about it.  The love scenes were kind of awkward and they were done in about a second lol.

Overall, this is not a bad book some people liked it a lot it just wasn’t for me.  And for those saying this is a re make of You’ve got mail, stop it is not, not even close.
